Merchandising Guidelines

Good Practices #1:

DO prioritise product images that look professional. Images on the first 4-5 pages should:

  • Have a lifestyle element OR

  • Styled on a model OR

  • Styled on background &

  • Have good lighting and a clear focus on the product.

Your photos should represent your brand that is trustworthy, heartwarming, and sophisticated.

Good Practices #2:

Do feature different types of products from different partners that have great imagery.

Tip: For categories that have over 400 products, you are unable to view all the products on Spree. It is recommended to:

• Do a quick scroll of all the products that you can merchandise

• Delete products that are irrelevant

• Refresh the page and have a mental note of what partners are available to merchandise

• Rotate products between as many partners as possible

For smaller or new categories (under 400 products), please add products from different partners to the category*.

DO:

Showcase a variety of partners where possible (E.g. Her > Personalised Gifts)

Good Practices #3:

Do be selective about products to feature.

There are partners that have many similar products and therefore use feature different products from each of the partner-vendors.

• Avoid having more than 3 similar products on one page if possible, because our offering will start to look repetitive, such as having 4 similar aprons on one page from one partner.

• Try to practice this for the first few pages at least.

Please also be realistic about products that are featured at the front of the categories.

• A $500 watch is probably not going to be a bestseller for teens.

• A cufflink tray is probably not a bestseller for children either.

Delete irrelevant products from categories. On the top right-hand corner of the product on Spree, click the arrow button and ‘delete from taxon’.

DO:

Mix product types from same partner/ Vendor

DON’T:

Have repetitive products from one partner

Good Practices #4:

Do not put products from the same partner next to each other. If possible, avoid stacking them on each other too.

On Spree, make sure that products from the same partner are placed in alternate sequences (i.e, 1, 3, 5, 7 etc). This way, partners from the same product do not appear next to each other, or above one another.

We want to avoid looking repetitive and showcase a variety of partners and products, especially on the first 4-5 pages of each category.

TRY TO AVOID:

Stacking the same partner

DON’T:

Put the same partner next to each other (e.g. See below)

Good Practices #5:

DO NOT feature images that do not meet Techsembly requirements.

Avoid putting these products on the first 4-5 pages of every category:

• Images that do not crop square (1:1)

• Images that are on white background

• Images that are dark

On further pages, please try to mix these products with products that have beautiful lifestyle images, and avoid having more than 2 images on white background per page.

We need to be mindful of the first impression that we give to our customers, hence our choice of images is important. Many of these are old products, as we have tightened our approval process.

DON’T:

Images that do not crop square

DON’T:

Images that are on white background (cut-out), and images that are too dark
